Hello to all my friends and everyone!
Thank you for taking the time to share my joy and excitement (maybe also a little anxiety) as I embark on a fun journey filled with many explorations and discoveries. The ideal eventual outcome will hopefully see me in a white wedding dress exchanging vows and a lifetime of marital bliss thereafter. Also I hope that this blog will be able to help other brides-to-be in some ways or another, be it a source of comfort or delighting in the inspirations of a "lightbulb moment".
Of course, it is totally okay to laugh at the boo-boos that I may commit now and then. What fun are wedding preparations without some funny or embarrassing anecdotes?
Now, let's bring in the leading man of this event --> Himself (as author Marian Keyes likes to call her other half)!!! I think it is best to bring him into the picture right from the start because the big day cannot happen without his presence.
We are both of Christian faith living in the Red Dot city. While Himself works as a career consultant with one of the government agencies, I traipse around the world in the guise of a trolley-dolly. Himself is an average man by society's standards but definitely very special to me. He is a simple man with a very big heart, and in his own candid and sincere ways, he makes me happy.
The wedding plans kind of slowly unfolded after he proposed to me when I came out of the toilet one fine evening in April. Yes, that is one of the candid things that I am talking about. Anyhow, that was when the whole preparation unofficially started.
THE DATE
That was the immediate agenda on our preparation list and it was the first thorn we encountered in our wedding preparation. My mum is a very superstitious person and she totally believes that marital bliss hinges largely on the date that one gets married on. She was adamant about picking an auspicious date but the lunar calendar for next year was not out yet and it will not be out till end of this year!
It got Himself and myself really anxious because we needed ample time to secure a wedding location of our choice and also to inform the pastor so that he may book the date for our solemnisation. Out of love and respect for my mum, Himself and I googled online and proposed the following dates:
- 20 September 2014 (Saturday)
- 26 October 2014 (Sunday)
Mum seemed appeased. One down.
Himself was here!!! Can't wait dearie!!
